President’s Message                                               Sept./Oct., 2011

Joseph F. Rowley, Jr.

September Meeting

At the NYSCAR Board Meeting in September, Vijay Yadlapati, Commercial Associate Policy Representative, National Association of REALTORS® gave an excellent presentation on the proposed new FASB lease accounting standards.  As you may know, these proposed lease accounting changes, if adopted as proposed, will dramatically change the way corporations record leases. The leases will go onto the financial statement instead of being treated as off-balance sheet   transactions. This could lead to shorter term leases to minimize the impact.  If you would like the “talking points” for this issue, please go to:

https://www.nyscar.org/db_member_doc.php?id=92 for a copy of:  “Proposed New Lease Accounting Standards: Bad for Economic Growth Talking Points.”
